State Sen. Joel Ford (D-District 38) visited PACE of the Southern Piedmont (PACE SP) in Charlotte, NC, on May 2 for a tour and to attend a round table discussion with program leaders, board members, participants and caregivers.
During the round table discussion, the leadership team, CEO Renee Rizzuti and board member Matt Frohna, of Advanced Home Care, discussed the PACE Model of Care, the role of the interdisciplinary team, and how preventive services improve quality of life. They also addressed Medicaid reform and thanked the Senator for his support. Participants shared their stories of transitioning from nursing homes to senior apartments, as well as graduating from wheelchairs to walking canes, through the continued support of PACE.
Caregivers expressed their gratitude and appreciation for PACE, which allows them to care for their loved ones at home in addition to receiving additional support needed to care for themselves.
During a tour of the center, Sen. Ford was eager to meet the members of the rehabilitation team after hearing the participant testimonials of their work. He looks forward to sharing his experience in the near future.
